Scout for Windows

Scout: Windows Endpoint Identification and Recovery Agent

Scout is the Windows endpoint component in FindIT. It helps IT teams make a selected endpoint identify itself through supported remote actions when the physical machine is unknown in a facility.

On-Demand Endpoint Identification

When IT knows which endpoint to target but cannot locate the machine physically, a technician can start a FindIT session from Basecamp. Scout then executes supported actions so the endpoint can identify itself.

Operational Status Context

  • Is the endpoint online?
  • When was it last seen?
  • What power state is it in?

Supported Scout Action Types

Audible Alerts

Use endpoint audio hardware where available to aid in physical discovery.

Visual and Display Signals

Use available screen and visual cue capabilities to help confirm physical endpoint identity.

Bluetooth Nearby Assist

Use Bluetooth-related discovery workflows with the FindIT mobile app where supported by endpoint hardware and policy.

Queued Recovery

If the endpoint is offline, Scout can execute queued recovery actions on the next successful check-in.

Works with Endpoint Reality

Endpoint capabilities vary by hardware model, policy, and runtime state. Scout is designed to use available capabilities at the time of recovery rather than assuming every machine supports every action.
