Physical Endpoint Location and Identification

Physically Locate Your Windows Computers

Keep tabs on your IT. Locate. Alert. Recover. FindIT helps IT teams identify and locate specific physical endpoints in real facilities when they already know which endpoint they need but cannot find the machine.

Find the physical computer you are looking for, not just the device record in your tools.

The Problem

"I know which computer I need. I just do not know where that physical machine is."

  • Hostnames are often not visible on the outside of the device.
  • Asset labels can be missing, damaged, or hard to interpret on-site.
  • An endpoint can be online while its exact physical location is still unknown.
FindIT adds an on-demand physical identification and location layer.

You Know Which Computer You Need. You Just Do Not Know Where It Is.

A technician is asked to find a specific endpoint in a large facility. They have the hostname, assigned user, and inventory record. The endpoint is online. But there are many similar machines nearby and no clear physical identifier.

  • The hostname may not be physically visible.
  • The asset label may be missing or show only an internal ID.
  • Manual one-by-one checks are slow and disruptive.

FindIT helps close that gap by enabling supported workflows that allow the selected endpoint to identify itself physically.

Example: Known Endpoint, Unknown Physical Machine

An IT technician is told to find ENG-PC-0472. Intune shows the endpoint is online, and the asset system has the assigned user and serial number. But the team is standing in a facility with many nearly identical workstations.

The hostname is not printed on the outside. The label might be missing, unreadable, or mapped to an internal numbering scheme. Manually checking machine after machine is slow and impractical. FindIT gives the target endpoint a way to identify itself physically.

Endpoint Management Tells You Which Device

Tools like Intune and RMM platforms are essential for endpoint administration and policy. They provide critical logical identity and health context.

Identification vs. Location

Which computer is this?

Physical endpoint identification confirms the exact machine in front of a technician.

Where is this computer?

Physical endpoint location helps teams navigate to the machine within a building or campus.

How It Works

1

Install Agent

Deploy Scout to managed Windows endpoints.

2

Heartbeat

Endpoints regularly check in with health and availability context.

3

Enable FindIT Mode

When the physical location of an endpoint becomes unknown, push the Find button to start recovery actions.

4

Recover Faster

Use FindIT's physical-world alerts as your beacon to the device.

FindIT is built to work alongside your existing tools

Keep the endpoint-management and asset-management systems you already trust. FindIT adds practical on-demand physical endpoint identification and location workflows for daily IT operations and recovery scenarios.
